Eye-opener

After two days of sleepless nights and uncomfortable slumber (Makcik, saya nak check blood pressure. Makcik, nak pergi X-ray. Madness), Mak is finally being discharged.

I feel relieved knowing that she can spend Aidilfitri with the family.

Alhamdullillah.

And what's that I hear, she regretted not listening to our advice to have her stomach pains checked out?

I guess looking at the ulcers in her stomach during the endoscopy was a wake-up call.

Alhamdullillah.

Just hopefully, it lasts though.

Jangan nak asyik takut nak pergi hospital ajer. Parents nowadays.

Sigh.

Main thing to do the minute we get home: throw out the sambal belacan and vinegar out the window.

In you go, Makcik.

Kalau orang degil, inilah jadi nyer.

Mak was hospitalized today. Enough said.

Hopefully, she knows better than to brush off her children's advice to go for a medical check-up the next time round.

Anak cakap tak nak dengar, kan?

Living Dangerously

When else can you stand in the middle of the road without the fear of being run over?

From Discover My space...

When else can you relax by sitting in the middle of the road knowing that you will get hit by an oncoming motorcycle?

From Discover My space...

Never!

Until now..

Now that the WORLD'S FIRST night race is coming to town!

Now, you can do exactly what your mother tells you NOT to.

Well, for the next few days, at least.

So treasure it!

SimpLizAz

Simple food,

Hot, piping packed food

simple people and a simple place to sit.

Who says iftar outside one's home has to be difficult?

Simplicity is key when your main aim is to have a hassle-free iftar with a loved one.

Sabar itu separuh dari iman

What I intended to do was take revenge.

Yeah, do the same thing that was done to me.

I had the whole evil plan worked out in my head.

Do this and say that and then acted like nothing ever happen.

Astaghfirullah.

It's amazing how corrupted the mind becomes when Anger creeps in ever so slowly.

It took many, many fragile moments and many, many heated teleconversations before I finally cooled down - to think that it was just a day ago that the incident took place.

Istighfar, Liz. Istighfar.

Astaghfirullah.

*slowly breathe out*

The glass is half-full, Liz.

Easier said than done. But I am capable of doing it.

Insya ALLAH.

Different is not always good

What we deem as inappropriate may be nothing short of the norm for others.

I mean we ARE all different anyways.

Different build, different age, different family background and most of all, have different opinions on the same issue.

Maybe it was just me being overly sensitive.

Maybe the phone call came as a shock and the reaction was a spur of the moment sort.

Or maybe..

Just maybe it was my birthday.

My special day that comes just once every year.

On the 8th day of Ramadan

For the first time ever, my birthday fell in the Islamic month of Ramadan.

No problem with that.

A colleague asked about my birthday celebration.

I replied saying that the celebration seemed more and more redundant as you get older.

One candle is enough

As more time passes by, you will eventually forget your birthday (One of my aunties did.)

Anyhow, an Italian restaurant was in our targetted restaurant this year.

The relaxing ambience was commendable but the food was not quite my cup of tea.

There is only so much cheese that I can take.

However, the special birthday "cake" was yummy.

Compliments to the chef

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the company of SiBudakTapaiYangAkuLupBangetTu.

Alhamdullillah.

Horrible food or not, I feel blessed by what HE has bestowed upon me.

It is all that I have hoped for and so much more.

In a quest to stay healthy physically as well as mentally during Ramadan, I put on my running shoes and went for a half-hour brisk walking session.

I brisk walked round the perimeter of Yishun Park.

As I walked and listened to my Creative Zen, I prayed that the greenery surrounding the park could help to improve my vision.

All of a sudden, a four-legged being stopped me in my tracks.

Tapai nyer stray dog!

As I passed the herd (or a school? Oh, that's for fishes, right?) of strays, I prayed that none of them decide to act crazy until I was out of sight.

10 steps away from the herd and I thought I was safe.

But when I turned back, I didn't realise that one stray was actually following me!

I stopped, it stopped.

I continued walking, it continued walking.

I stopped again, it stopped again!

ARGH!

Tension aku!

What to do? What to do?

With nowhere else to go, I crossed the road and jogged to the other side!

Thank GOD, it did not follow me.

Alhamdullillah.

Kacau plan aku jer, si anjing tapai tu.

After that, as I was walking back home, I walked side by side an apek who had a puppy that was not on a leash. (Who let the dogs out??)

Before I could walked past them, the puppy started moving towards my direction and almost stopped right in front of me.

Luckily, the apek was clever enough to stop his jog (Oh yes, age knows no exercising boundaries) and held down his puppy.

I appreciate that, truly.

But people has to understand the fact that Muslims are not allowed to touch the dog's saliva and that's one of the reasons why it's greatly appreciated if dog owners put a leash on their canines.

Therefore, as a sign of respecting the religious differences in Singapore, I believe that dog owners need to know the reason as to why Muslims are not allowed to touch dogs.

I think the biggest challenge residents of any nation has to face can never be compared to the trials and tribulations of a multi-racial country.

It requires a lot of patience, understanding and open-mindedness for peace and harmony....like in Singapore.

Stay strong!

In almost all of the health-related sites that I visited reported that stress, regular exercise, balanced diet and adequate rest contributes to boosting one's immune system.

Was I lacking in one or all of those factors?

Most probably, yes.

I was getting tired of falling sick.

It affected my work as well as my personal life.

I have always been a fan for natural cures of diseases of any kind.

If I can prevent popping pills in an attempt to live a more healthy and fulfilling life, why not?

I have never really fancy the idea of relying on external man-made sources in order to stay free of diseases.

If I AM the elixir, then all the better.

What do you know?

Positive thinking can help prevent cancer!

It's the thought that counts.

Better late than never, they say.

Selamat menjalankan ibadah puasa to all my Muslim friends.

6 days into the holy month and I have missed two days.

May all of you succeed in refraining from eating, drinking and having dirty thoughts during this Ramadan..

..while I try my ultimate best to find natural ways to boost up my immune system.
